Hydrant Flushing ALERT
UPDATE: FLUSHING FIRE HYDRANTS Week of April 10, 2018
The North Chelmsford Water District recently received full approval to pump two new Bed Rock Wells into the Water Treatment Plant. The water quality from the new wells mixed with the existing four Gravel Packed wells will require the Employees of the North Chelmsford Water District to flush the entire water distribution system and remove the stagnant discolored water from this past winter. The water quality will be much better, the new wells based on testing that was done at a State approved
Laboratory had very low iron, manganese, color and sodium levels. The improved water quality will allow us to reduce the chemicals that we use daily as part of our treatment process, this will save the Water District a lot of money over time. If your water is discolored please run your water until it runs clears, usually 10 to 15 minutes.
I am sorry for any inconvenience due to the Fire Hydrant flushing.
Sincerely;
Bruce J. Harper, Sr.
Water Superintendent

Summer Water Management Program Effective May 1 through October 15
Important Date Change
Monday, October 23rd, 2017
The North Chelmsford Water District has entered into a contractual Agreement with SUEZ/UTILITY SERVICE CO., INC. to Clean the water mains on the following Streets, LEDGE ROAD, MEADOWBROOK ROAD, SIXTH AVENUE, SEVENTH AVENUE and a portion of WILLIS DRIVE, this will include SUGDEN LANE, BRADFORD ROAD and OAK Hill ROAD.
The company uses a technique called ICE PIGGING, that has been proven to be between 100 and 1000 times more effective at removing sediment and debris than water flushing alone. All residents effected by the cleaning will be notified in advance of what to expect. I also included an attachment labeled Ice Pigging/Welcome Package.
